Thousands of people are gathering in the streets, despite health threats, to express deeply held concerns.

On the news, intermixed with Black Lives Matter and coronavirus reporting, I hear statements from our political leaders and candidates. I wonder with all that is going on how it will be possible for everyone to have access to voting in November.

I think... someone needs to do something.
I think... what can I do. I’m one person, in one place.
I feel... inadequate and overwhelmed.

It occurred to me that others might feel the same way. So I did some research. Did you know that 43% of eligible voters, 100,000,000 people, did not vote in 2016*?

That was 2016. With coronavirus impacting our daily lives, voting will be even more difficult. For many, this could be a long wait in line at the polling place. For others, it could be the first time filling out a mail-in ballot.

In my research I found one of the most important keys to successful voter turnout is having a plan to vote. It’s not that people don’t care. It’s that life gets in the way.

Folks legitimately say, I didn’t vote because my child was sick, because I didn’t have gas in my car, because I didn’t have a stamp to mail in my ballot.

It wouldn’t take much to help out that friend.
What if each of us made a commitment to support one other person's plan to vote? That's not too hard. We could bypass political campaign noise and grandstanding and take voting back to a personal level.

One vote can feel like a drop in the bucket. But amazingly, if we each bring one more person, just one, there will be more than enough votes to change the election.

Quietly, with authenticity,
In a socially-distanced kind of way,
One person supports another person and

We elect a truly representative president and Congress.

Don't wait till election night and then feel regretful. Everyone should have an opportunity to vote in this next election.  There is something you can do right now. Share You+1 with others and begin having conversations.
