For folks who are quiet and bookish like me, I thought you might find it interesting to know words that matter to me right now.
Civil: I like this word because it has two definitions.
Fervor: Interesting word on two levels. a) You don’t need to be an activist to vote. b) Some people vote by rote and could be open to new ideas.
Rote: How many people vote habitually? An aptly asked question can inspire reconsideration.
Grandstanding: I’m interested in the balance between extroverts and introverts. Our country has a good deal of respect for extroverts. Not all places in the world feel this way. Because of our extrovert admiration, we often see political grandstanding.
Diplomacy. I love this!
Hubbub. My ears get tired.
Bypass. We don’t need to have a head-on collision! There are often smarter ways to approach a challenge.
Representative. I’m troubled by large sums of campaign support money that originate outside my state. I feel that the election is being influenced by “outsiders” and that winners may represent a cause that is not important to the majority of people in my state. I’m hopeful that You+1 in its quiet conversations, will bypass the negative messaging created by those outside dollars.
